The "Hidden Treasures", or what lies beneath, the stylish exterior is the component that makes the garments come together. Construction is one of the most important components of the suit. Several raw materials, measuring, precision cuts, time and effort are what justifies the durability of a great suit. Many suits are made of materials that 'get the job done', but for the very best in quality, the best materials and methods are key! The difference between basted, bonded, machine sewn and stitched by hand are each milestones to reach when trying to create a suit that will last and speak for itself.
What you need to know:
Canvassing plays a major part in how a finished suit jacket wears, retains shape and its durability. One advantage that canvassed suits have over fused (glue bond or basted) suits is that when laundered, the materials are not subject to being broken down by the dry cleaning machinery and processes. Canvassing contributed to the 'posture' of your suit and ultimately, enhances your appearance.
